The Ametller family have dedicated their lives to grape growing in the Catalan Penedès since the first half of the nineteenth century.The founder of this family of grape growers was Joan Ametller Fortuny who originally came from the region of Salom in the neighbouring Tarragona.In 1824, he set up in Sant Mart Sarroca in the northern part of the Penedès region.

In 1832, he acquired the once small operation,which with the passing of time has now turned into the Ametller Vineyards.

His descendants developed the wine operation and manufactured wines, which were distributed in the traditional bulk form of that time.The oenology of the new millennium has brought to light that the end quality of the product is really predetermined by the first phase of this marvellous process; the development of the grape in the vineyard.
