Catalonia
is a rich region of Spain and is home to some of it’s
finest wines. Penedès was the region that really put
Catalan wine on the map in the 1960’s, originally
with fine white wines and then increasingly with fines
reds. Most
impressive is that no one style rules the roost, old fashioned
Spanish wines are made as are vibrantly fruity reds from
international and traditional grapes. Fresh, crisp whites
are made from Catalan grapes as well as fine barrel fermented
Chardonnays to equal Burgundy or California.
